At St. John's UCC, we're always excited to welcome new visitors. We hope you'll join us for a service, and we want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect when you come to our 10:00 a.m. service.
Our church is located at 117 E. Julian St., and parking is available behind the church. There is also an accessible entrance from the rear parking lot. If you have mobility restrictions or young children to carry, feel free to use one of the spots closest to the door.
Please don't worry about what you'll wear to church, for we truly believe people should come to God as they are. You don't need to dress up to get his approval--that comes through Jesus' sacrifice. Once you walk in the doors, you'll see that the congregation has all types of people in all kinds of dress. While some people in the church like to dress up, others like to remind them that Jesus never wore a tie. Shorts are as welcome as suits, and you'll see both.
When you walk in, find one of our greeters and introduce yourself. They're usually stationed at the sanctuary doors and Welcome Podium, and they'll show you where everything is. If you have any questions about the service itself, the greeters are able to provide helpful answers.
Early in the service, all children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a meaningful Children's Message. After that, our caring and capable members of the Children's Ministry will escort them to the upstairs Sunday School classrooms. Younger children are supervised in the nursery area, while older children participate in a lesson and craft project. A healthy snack and water are also available to them. If you would like to tour this area before the service, our greeter will be happy to assist you.
Church leaders will never request money, gift cards, or sensitive information be email or text. If you're unsure, call Pastor Bonnie or the church office directly. No question is ever a bother.
